2013-New-Year-Wallpaper-2Happy 2013, everyone!  Hope it was safe and sound for everyone!!!   My goal for 2013 is to blog more.  Between work and life… finding time has been hard, but I am going to force myself to do it!!!  I am, I am tell you!!!

I am also excited to announce that I have reclaimed my Internet name.  The official name of this blog has been  That was because someone stole my name and I could not use unless I paid some serious cash for it.  Well, waiting it out paid off b/c now, once again, I own (and it only cost me $10)!!!  So my blog is now officially

There is a ton of pop culture and celebrity stuff coming up in 2013.  Check me out on WINDY CITY LIVE to see what you can look froward to in 2013, including Oscar nominations coming out this week.

franklyHANK IS Lady Gaga…ok, just for Halloween

This is yours truly on Chicago’s Windy City LIVE today for our special Halloween broadcast.  It took 1 1/2 hours in hair and make-up to pull off this look.  Whew!  Special thanks to make-up artist Keith Ward who made it all happen!

franklyHANK’s EXCLUSIVE: Toldja Anne Hathaway Was Gettin’ Hitched!

On Friday, I revealed on Windy City LIVE, EXCLUSIVELY mind you, that Anne Hathaway was getting hitched in Cali on Saturday in a super secret wedding to fiance’ Adam Shulman.  And I was right!  Whew!  My source did not let me down and he (or she) is not dead to me as promised.   You can get all the details on Huffington Post, but it was quite a small affair in Big Sur and the bride was wearing Valentino.  Congrats!  Now to find my next scoop.  This celebrity stuff never ends.

SEE IT: franklyHANK’s Skydiving Adventure

Another item on my bucket list checked… SKYDIVING!!!  Yes, in deed.  Last Saturday, I ventured to Ottawa, IL and Skydive Chicago for my very first tandem jump.  Jerry Borek was my jumping partner.  I was his 709th jump, so I was in good hands.  Will Pesek was the camera man jumping along side of us capturing the action.  The weather was great and the experience was even better.  I still can’t believe I did it and thankfully I have video to prove it!!!

Chicago Representin’ On “The Voice”

This week NBC’s “The Voice” launched it’s third season and, as always, there was some great talent, but two Chicagoans really stood out for me.  On Tuesday, we met De’Borah, a Chicago Heights woman who embraced who true self at age 18 and was kicked out of her church choir for doing so.  HER CHURCH CHOIR!  Really, people?  Where is the love?  Well she got some love on “The Voice.”  Check out her performance below.  She is on Team Xtina (That’s Christina Aguilera’s team, for those up with the shorthand).

On Wednesday night, we met Julio Castillo.  Julio is also from Chicago and the first contestant on “The Voice” to sing entirely in spanish and you can tell the judges loved it.  La La La La La Bamba!!!  He ended up on Team Blake.  Check him out below.

I’ll be talking more about both of them Friday, September 14, 2012 on “Windy City LIVE,” 9AM on ABC7 Chicago.

How absolutely sad I was to hear of the sudden death of actor Michael Clarke Duncan.  I still watch his performance in “The Green Mile” and think what a fantastic actor.  Duncan died today in a LA hospital.  He had a massive heart attack July 13 and had been recovering.  He was 54.

The 6’5″ Chicago native grew up wanting to play football, according to his IMDB profile, but his mother would not let him.  So he pursued acting and dreamed of being famous one day. He had a small role in the film “Armageddon” in 1998, but his 1999 role in “The Green Mile” was when everyone took note, thanks to Bruce Willis who recommended him.  Duncan will next be seen in “The Challenger,” due for release in December 2012.

Rest In Peace, Michael Clarke Duncan.

Weekly Wrap up for June 17, 2012

At least Lindsay Lohan can find some humor in her “dramatic” incident on Friday.  To catch you up, when producers of her Liz Taylor movie for Lifetime tried to reach Linday at her hotel, she would not answer her phone.  Lohan was said to be “unconscious” and paramedics were called.  Yes, she was unconscious.  It’s called sleep.  Turns out Lilo was sleeping very hard after several long days of work and didn’t hear the phone ring.  Oops.  So Lindsay sent this Tweet out this weekend:

“Note to self.. After working 85hours in 4days, and being up all night shooting, be very aware that you might pass out from exhaustion &7 paramedics MIGHT show up @ your door…. Hopefully theyre cute. Otherwise it would be a real let down.”

Channing Tatum’s stripper movie, “Magic Mike” has a naughty European trailer that is red hot!  Ohhhh, baby!  Check it out below…but be WARNED.  THERE IS NUDITY in the clip.  I know, makes you want to watch it even more.  God bless, Matt Bomer.  🙂   FYI.. Channing Tatum will be live on Windy City LIVE on Monday, June 18.  Tune in to watch me salivate.

The Grammys have unveiled a fascinating new documentary on how they handled the news of Whitney Houston’s death and how they worked to create a tribute to her.  It’s called:  A Death In The Family: The Show Must Go One.  You can watch it here on the Grammy Web site.  The documentary not only features behind-the-scenes types talking about the tragedy, it also includes interviews with first time host LL Cool J who was battling the flu and singer Jennifer Hudson who would perform a touching tribute.  It’s 28 minutes long, but worth a watch.

The latest “Call May Maybe” viral video features the hunky, sexy and oh so adorable men of Abercrombie & Fitch singing the Carly Rae Jepsen hit of the summer.  Studs from A&F stores in London, Paris, and New York, among others are featured dancing shirtless.  So all I got to say is, give me them digits.  The phone is in my hand!

Weekly Wrap-Up for June 10, 2012

So with all of my other duties working on Windy City LIVE, writing this blog has been nearly impossible.  Yet, I love it.  Therefore I have decided to write an entertainment wrap up once a week with my take on all of the pop culture and celeb news from the week.  When big news breaks (or when I feel like it), I’ll write other columns, but for now… here we go…

Lady G was in New Zealand for her latest tour and got smacked in the head with a pole by one of her dancers.  Ouch!  She ended up with a concussion, but finished the show anyway.  I’m hoping it smacked some fashion sense into her.  Get rid of the weird costumes, you freak!  You have talent.  You don’t need all of that.  The video of her get smacked was on YouTube, but the owner took it down.  He probably got offered big bucks by one of the networks to do so.  I’m sure it will be popping up tomorrow on some show.

Lindsay Lohan is doing well after wrecking her rented Porshe on Friday as she was driving to set of her new movie on the life of Liz Taylor.  Here’s the really stupid part.  Lindsay had a limo to pick her up and bring her to the set, but she refused it on Friday when he arrived, so she and her assistant drove the Porsche as the limo followed.  DUMB!  Then she totals the car and tries to blame the truck for cutting her off.  No dice, Lindsay.  In almost every rear end case (don’t quote me on this), the driver who rear ends is cited for failure to follow at a proper distance and failure to maintain control.  Lindsay says her brakes failed.  I think her common sense failed.  Again.  Grow up, child.  Follow the rules and you’ll see that life gets much better.

Ok, I get it.  People like sneakers.  And they like sneakers attributed to rock stars and athletes.  But Kanye West’s new Air Yeezy 2 sneakers retail for $245 and before they were released they were selling for $90,000 on ebay.  I’m sure the bids were fake and Kanye’s reps were probably behind the ebay bidding war, but really, people.  THEY ARE SNEAKERS!!!  Do you know how many pairs of Pumas I can get for $245???  I don’t get it, but that’s just me.

Former Blossom star Joey Lawrence is doing a limited run in the famous all-male Chippendales review in Las Vegas.  He made his debut Friday.  Let me just say, “Book me on the next plane to Vegas!!!”  Whew.  Now if all child stars could turn out that good!  Are you listening, Corey Feldman???

I finally got around to seeing the new Snow White flick.  LOVED IT!  The art direction and the cinematography rock.  Charlize Theron is brilliant as the evil queen and I didn’t even mind Kristen Stewart as Snow White (although she does come across as her Twilight character at times).  Excellent summer flick and well worth it.  Check it out.

Last but not least… tune in every Monday to see me on WINDY CITY LIVE on ABC7 in Chicago.  You can also watch it online at

OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network, has just announced that it’s cancelling the talk show hosted by comedian Rosie O’Donnell, “The Rosie Show.”  The show will tape its final episode on Tuesday, March 20th.

A release issued by OWN said:  “I thank Rosie from the bottom of my heart for joining me on this journey.  She has been an incredible partner, working to deliver the best possible show every single day,” said Oprah Winfrey. “As I have learned in the last 15 months, a new network launch is always a challenge and ratings grow over time as you continue to gather an audience.  I’m grateful to Rosie and the dedicated Rosie Show team for giving it their all.”

In the release, Rosie O’Donnell went on to say:  “I loved working with Oprah in the amazing city of Chicago.”  She added,  “I was welcomed with open arms and will never forget the kindness of all I encountered. It was a great year for me – I wish the show was able to attract more viewers – but it did not.  So I am headed back to my home in New York – with gratitude.  On we go!”

Behind The Scenes with Rosie O’Donnell

On Windy City LIVE today, we were very lucky to have Rosie O’Donnell as our special guest for the hour.  But it didn’t start off so smoothly.  🙂  Rosie was caught in traffic.  Chicago traffic is a nightmare and Rosie learned that the hard way this morning.  As show time approached, Rosie was no where in sight.  Thankfully, she is a prolific Twitterer.  She started tweeting us updates.  “Oy in traffic – 6 mins says opera rap star driver Khary Laurent.”   Followed by, “cutting it close -fear not I am camera ready in an odd orange frock…”

So we had to formulate a back-up plan.  We had this elaborate open planned.  We put together a great skit on tape that culminated in Mark DeCarlo running into the studio and cue-ing a singer to begin.  The singer joins the chorus (The Chicago Red Line) and the song ends with Rosie walking on stage.  Well, no Rosie, no song, so we had the hosts vamp a little.  The show begins and I’m waiting in the lobby for Rosie.  Producer David Plummer is waiting outside.  News crews are gathered hoping to get a sound bite with Rosie (who just landed an exclusive sit down with Patty Blagojevitch).  There was no way that was happening.  We had to get her in studio.  We had a microphone waiting.  All we needed was Rosie…
