This is beyond incredible. Alex Boye as the Ice King, the One Voice Children’s Choir and the vocally powerful Lexi Walker, all from Salt Lake City. On Boye’s YouTube page, he writes, “I went out of town for work and when I got back, my wife Julie told me, ‘You’ve got to hear this. She puts on the music and my little 4 year old Adanna struts and shimmies across the living room singing every single word of ‘Let it Go’ with feeling and reckless abandonment!! Along with every other kid in the country, She got Frozenitis!'”
So Boye called up his friend, Masa Fukuda, who directed a choir of 140 kids including Lexi Walker, and they produced their own tribal verison of the hit song. And yes, the ice is real! Boye says, “The video shoot was amazing and even though it was SO cold you couldn’t feel your toes, the kids were amazing and so patient!”
Congrats to actress Ellen Page who came out this weekend in an empowering speech. Ellen was in Las Vegas speaking at Time to THRIVE, a conference promoting LGBT youth when she made the announcement. She said, , “I am here today because I am gay. And because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.”
Page also added, “I am tired of hiding and I am tired of lying by omission.” She added, “I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered and my relationships suffered. And I’m standing here today, with all of you, on the other side of all that pain.”
While I applaud Ellen Page (and anyone for that matter) for coming out, I look forward to the day when this really isn’t news at all. No one announces they are straight! It’s 2014 and this really should be a non-issue!!!
TMZ reports that Beyonce lip-synched her performance at the Inauguration yesterday choosing to use a pre-recorded track instead of singing live, unlike Kelly Clarkson, who did sing live. Say it ain’t so, Bee?
Beyonce did remove her “inner ear” ear piece during the performance. That could have been simply because the music was too loud. I should point out that Whitney Houston also lip-synched her most famous rendition of the national anthem at the Super Bowl in 1991.
The former Queen of Daytime Talk, one Miz Oprah Winfrey, proves she can still pull in the big names. Today, Oprah announced her worldwide exclusive interview with disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong. Is Lance going to confess? There had been rumors all week that he might come clean, no pun intended.
Oprah’s press release says, “In the interview, Winfrey speaks with Armstrong at his home in Austin, Texas in the only interview since the seven-time Tour de France winner was stripped of his titles and dropped from millions of dollars in endorsement deals after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency released an extensive report accusing the renown cyclist of doping throughout his career. Armstrong was given a lifetime ban on competing professionally. Late last year, Armstrong resigned as chairman of the foundation he created, Livestrong, which has raised hundreds of millions of dollars in the fight against cancer.”
I smell confession, folks!!! The 90-minute Thursday night episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” will air January 17 (9:00 – 10:30 p.m. ET/PT) on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.
Now THAT is must-see TV!
Happy 2013, everyone! Hope it was safe and sound for everyone!!! My goal for 2013 is to blog more. Between work and life… finding time has been hard, but I am going to force myself to do it!!! I am, I am tell you!!!
I am also excited to announce that I have reclaimed my Internet name. The official name of this blog has been franklyHANKblog.com. That was because someone stole my name and I could not use franklyHANK.com unless I paid some serious cash for it. Well, waiting it out paid off b/c now, once again, I own franklyHANK.com (and it only cost me $10)!!! So my blog is now officially franklyHANK.com.
There is a ton of pop culture and celebrity stuff coming up in 2013. Check me out on WINDY CITY LIVE to see what you can look froward to in 2013, including Oscar nominations coming out this week.
Have you seen the new Macy’s commercial? It features actor Edmund Gwenn (Kris Kringle) from the original “Miracle On 34th Street” digitally edited with Macy’s biggest celebrity names including Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Tommy Hilfiger and a very funny turn from one Martha Stewart. I LOVE the original film and this is a fun way for Macy’s to bring about some holiday spirit!!! Check it out below!
Christina Aguilera held a listening party recently to showcase her new album, “LOTUS.” It drops on November 13th and I personally can’t wait. Check out the previews below of some of Christina’s favorites on the album.
Christina talks about her inspiration for LOTUS.
BLANK PAGE is a power ballad worthy of Ms. Aguilera’s powerhouse vocals.
LET THEIR BE LOVE is the dance club mix you will be grooving to thanks to uber producer Max Martin.
ARMY OF ME is the song Christina calls “Fighter 2.0.” It’s this generation’s version of her hit song, “Fighter.” And just as powerful.
MAKE THE WORLD MOVE is Christina collaboration with Cee Lo.
JUST A FOOL is Christina’s duet with her “The Voice” co-judge Blake Shelton and it’s another ballad that is undeniably Christina.
I have always said that Christina Aguilera is at her best when she is doing power ballads and her new single, “Blank Page” from her upcoming album, LOTUS proves it. It’s a such a beautiful song and plays to Christina’s strong vocals. So incredibly moving. This is definitely a hit for XTINA. Take a listen below. LOTUS debuts November 13.
This is yours truly on Chicago’s Windy City LIVE today for our special Halloween broadcast. It took 1 1/2 hours in hair and make-up to pull off this look. Whew! Special thanks to make-up artist Keith Ward who made it all happen!
Deadline.com is reporting EXCLUSIVELY that SETH MACFARLANE will host the Oscars next February on ABC. MacFarline is known for being the creator of “Family Guy” and the box office smash, “Ted.”
It’s a bold choice for the Academy and a good one, I say. Seth will bring younger viewers to the screen and hopefully hip up what has been an otherwise boring awards show in years past.
What do you think???
